Current Opening: Now Hiring an Executive Director for the 2025/2026 school year!

Deadline: Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Initial applicant reviews commence on February 1, 2025. Interviews will begin February 17.

Background and Role: Maine Mountain Children’s House (MMCH) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and early childhood Montessori education center in the mountains of Western Maine. We serve children ages 18 - 36 months in our Toddler classroom, children 3 - 6 years old in our Primary classroom, and we invite elementary students up to age 8 to join us for our after school care program. Since 2006, MMCH has enrolled children from three counties and at times up to nine local municipalities. Today the school is a vibrant, enriching environment for more than 30 students and 7 dedicated staff members. In 2024 MMCH went through a major renovation and expansion project that tripled the potential capacity for students, allowing the school to further serve its local community. Our beloved Executive Director of the past 14 years has decided to retire from the position at the end of the 2024-2025 school year, and MMCH is seeking an Executive Director to lead us into the next phase of growth!

Who you are: A dedicated educator with a deep passion for nurturing young minds. You are committed to the belief that every child has limitless potential, and that the early years are crucial in shaping the foundation for a successful and fulfilling future. You lead with heart and organization, while sharing inspiration with the educators and learners that surround you. You are a creative problem solver and a tireless cheerleader for your team. You find joy in the small moments- tea time with the children, or discovering a cocoon on the playground. You are a talented juggler- slipping into the role of administrator or teacher as needed. You are a clear, concise communicator who can navigate or mediate difficulties with peace and maturity. You believe in the principals of a Montessori education and either have a background in the philosophy or would be excited about gaining that background.
