Navigating this new and alternative life we’re all now living… Here’s a little glimpse into our day-to-day life at home, and a reminder that whether it’s a wild day or a tame day, everyday is normal :)

Adjusting to full-time life at home during the COVID-19 pandemic with my husband, son, and dog, while still searching for a connection to the MMCH families we’ve grown so close to through the years.

Our blossoming afternoon Kindergarten program at Maine Mountain Children’s House kicks off it’s year with 8 students ages 4 to 6 and we are having so much fun!

There are a few core components to a Montessori classroom, such as a prepared environment, teachers as guides, freedom of exploration, and a multi-age environment.  The multi-age environment is a hallmark of the Montessori classroom, and is inextricably linked to the importance of the Three Year Cycle.  Spending three whole years in the Montessori environment is crucial to the health of the Montessori classroom environment as well as each individual child’s academic and social development. 

Practical life materials lay the foundation for all of your child’s future work in the Montessori classroom and beyond. These lessons focus on real-life skill building, and the development of concentration, coordination of movement, and independence. Additionally, this is where children begin building concentration for more advanced work, fine motor skills for writing, and much more.
