January Newsletter

Happy New Year and welcome back after a much-needed winter break.  We hope this letter finds you happy and healthy.  Our classrooms are once again bustling with activity!  We are having fun studying the different forms of water (solid, liquid, gas) along with the continent of Antarctica and the Arctic regions.  We continue to look at the different ways animals prepare themselves for the cold winter environment we have here in Maine - whether they migrate to other areas of the world, hibernate in cozy spaces until warmer temps, or stay active and adapt their bodies to meet their needs.

As you read on, please note the information regarding monthly Early Release Days starting in February as well as other upcoming dates, SAMshine Day, and needs for the classroom.

Early Release Schedule

On the first Wednesday of each month, MMCH will close both the Toddler and the Primary classrooms at 12:00 for a staff meeting and professional development.  Children will eat lunch at school at 11:00 and then head outside to play until they are picked up.

Our first “Early Release” day will be Wednesday, February 3rd.

If you have any questions or concerns about this decision that you would like us to discuss, please do not hesitate to reach out.  Our early release schedule for the remainder of the 2020/2021 school year goes as follows:

February 3rd March 3rd April 7th May 5th June 2nd

SAMshine Day ♡

This week we introduce a new “peacemaker” to the children here at MMCH: our dear friend and founder of our school - Samantha Wright.  Sam’s love for adventure was infectious and her bright smile made everyone around her feel welcome and included in whatever was going on.  Natalie McKenzie, one of Sam’s former students, put it like this; “Sam is the best preschool teacher ever.  I love to be around her because she makes me comfortable.”

Please join us on Thursday, January 14th as we celebrate “SAMshine Day” at MMCH. SAMshine Day is a day to take a moment and do a small act of kindness that will make someone’s (or something’s!) day a little brighter.  How can you harness your inner Sam and make someone else feel a little more comfortable? Maybe you could offer to run an errand for a friend, or purchase a coffee for the car behind you in the drive-through, or simply look someone in the eye and say “thank you” for the work they do each day.  These may seem like small acts, but they could have a big impact on someone else!
